Map the movement
Record where each person or vehicle approached, the intended path, crosswalk or lane, traffic controls, lighting, weather, and any obstruction. A simple factual sketch can preserve orientation.
Preserve equipment and data
Store the bicycle, helmet, clothing, lights, and damaged items without repair when they may need inspection. Export original route, fitness, phone, or connected-device data without editing it.
Identify changing records
Traffic, transit, doorbell, vehicle, and business video may be retained for limited periods. Note camera locations and the public or private entity that appears to control each source.
Ask about public property
A roadway, signal, sidewalk, or trail question may involve a public body and a special notice process. Ask local counsel to identify the entity and current rule promptly.
