Control matters more than the sign outside
A familiar brand or venue name can help identify the physical setting, but ownership, tenancy, management, maintenance, security, and service operations may be divided among several organizations. Confirm the legal name from receipts, reports, reservations, agreements, or official records.

A named business is not an allegation
Walmart, Target, Costco, Starbucks, McDonald’s, hotel brands, airports, schools, and shopping centres may be mentioned by a person simply to identify a place. An injury there does not by itself prove a dangerous condition, notice, causation, negligence, or responsibility.
